I have a (Brand X) head unit.  Is Qube’s Audio Control compatible?

If your head unit is able to receive infrared or RF signals, yes it is compatible.

My head unit didn’t come with a remote.  Can I still use Qube’s Audio Control?

Often a head unit manufacturer does not include a remote with the head unit to cut down cost to the consumer.  If your head unit documentation says “Remote Optional”, we can provide a controller for it.  Please contact us if you are not sure.

Can you create a controller for a Car PC

Yes, we have created controllers for other devices besides head units.  It will take a fair amount of customization though.  Please contact us for details.

Can I use Qube’s Audio Control with a different head unit?

If you are using a different model of the same brand, the answer is typically yes.  If you are trying to use the controller with a brand of head unit other than what it was originally built for, the answer is typically no.

What is the typical turnaround time for the Audio Control?

The typical turnaround time from the date of order placement is two weeks.  Turnaround time for Alpine head unit controllers may be shorter as these are usually kept in stock.

I have an Audio Control built for (Brand X) head units and would like to change to a (Brand Y) head unit.  What do I do?

Please contact us with the brand and model number of your new head unit.  We can do an exchange of your old controller for one that will work with your new head unit for a $100 fee.

I want to keep my stock Audio Control.  Is this possible?

In order for us to create a controller for you without receiving a core in return, we have to charge a core replacement fee of $150.  Used Audio Controls in good condition can typically be found for much cheaper online though, so it may be in your best interest to simply repurchase a stock controller from another party should you decide to return to stock.

I want to keep my aftermarket remote control.  Is this possible?

The cost of head unit remote controls is typically between $20 and $50, depending on the retailer.   Of course, you will only incur these costs if you plan to return your car to stock specifications.

Can I use this controller with the stock head unit?

Qube’s Audio Control is not compatible with the stock head unit.  The stock head unit does not accept any other signal other than that generated from a stock audio control.

My Mute button light no longer works.  Is this typical?

The Mute button will no longer work.  Qube’s Audio Control does not receive any feedback from the Head Unit, so if you were to press Mute on the head unit, then Mute again on the controller, you would get into a situation where the Mute light would be on, even if the Mute was not active, and vice-versa.  The simplest solution was to simply disconnect the Mute light.

Do you offer a hardwired solution?

Qube Engineering does not offer a solution for hardwiring head units at this time.   This is something that we would eventually like to offer, but there is no project in the works yet.

Will the controller work with the S2000 radio door closed?

Yes.  If the head unit is installed correctly, the controller should operate at 100% with the door open or closed.  If you get less than 100% response from the head unit, you may try installing the head unit slightly further back (towards the front of the car).  Also, make sure you are installing the Infrared Signal Emitting LED close to the Infrared Receiver on the head unit.

Does the steering wheel need to be removed to install the audio control?

No.  The steering column can be lowered instead, which is a much easier procedure.  Please see the installation instructions for more details.
